Dominica National Cultural Gala 2016

The Independence 2016 Cultural Gala is on at the Botanical Gardens on Thursday, November 3 from 3.00 p.m to 9.000pm. The gala will excite you with the best in bele, heel and toe, quadrille, sotice, mazouk, flirtation, creative dance, kont, kokoy tory, kweyol song, kokoy song, jing ping, string band, drumming ensemble, mouth organ, bamboo flute and lots more. the E.O. Leblanc trophy and the Lifetime Achievement award will also be presented.

Robeline Walter is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for 2016. Mrs. Walter is regarded as Dominica’s Bele Queen.

The E.O.Leblanc Trophy will go to the Goodwill Secondary School for its cultural programmes and consistent participation in cultural competitions. The Young Artist Award will go to Nisha Prosper for participating in the most categories during this year’s cultural competitions. 

Winners of the literary awards – English poetry and short story and Kweyol poetry – will also be announced. There will be a guest appearance by Scrunter and the gala will end with a performance by the First Serenade.
