Klassique Academy of Dance and Performing Arts Anguilla (KADPAA) was founded in October 2007 by Ms. Valencia Prentice, as a dance academy of excellence. Klassique has, during its short existence, developed its own creed centered on excellence, service and molding lives. KADPAA’s relatively young movement has emerged primarily as a performing arts academy, targeting young males and females between ages 3 – adults.
Within Anguilla, KADPAA is regarded as having ushered in a revival of the appreciation of the performing arts, particularly dance. This movement has been likened to a revolution synonymous with hope and change. KADPAA is about breaking down boundaries and building bridges to enhance the lives of its students and contribute to the development of Anguilla.
KADPAA aims to build and develop well-rounded, confident individuals by providing a safe and nurturing environment where the arts and creativity are able to thrive. We are committed to: focusing on the creative talents and future of our students; promoting lifelong learning; and becoming an institution where students can find self-worth, a high level of camaraderie and hope of expressing themselves in the arts. Thereby, molding our students to excel and become our nation’s cultural icons.
October 2012, KADPAA decided to introduce to the region an annual dance festival in Anguilla, MOVE. The reception from partnering dancers were well received, and MOVE was a success so much so that MOVE is now in its fourth year. MOVE proves to connect and build the dance community beyond national boundaries and expose dance students to various styles, technique and creative inspirations. The MOVE stage has showcased talents from St. Maarten, St. Martin, St. Barth’s, St. Kitts, Nevis, Tortola, Antigua, Curacao, and even spread to an international dance group from New Jersey, USA. This year we have already received confirmations from more islands who are very excited to showcase their talents on the MOVE stage.
